We are really building a Volcano in Mrs.Benson's Bunch!!! Here are the beginning stages....
Our Day One End Product...
Stay tuned for more from The Bunch of Volcano builders!!!
Our Valentine and 100th Day Celebration is tomorrow. We will be dancing 100 steps to songs, writing letters with100 words and creating some Lovey Crafts <3 font="">3>
I LOVE PHOTOGRAPHY :)
While I was trying to create cards for the kiddos this past week, and their fun flyer, I taught myself how to make clip art! ITS SO FUN!!
Anyway, Valentine's Day is Thursday and we will be having some snacks and having a little "Dance" in our room. Organized dancing, like the cupid shuffle, some exercising, and some fun songs I know the kiddos really like. If you would like to send in some goodies, please feel free to do so-email me so we don't have duplicates- mrsbensonsbunch@gmail.com
I have some great things to add to this post, we made omelets (well scrambled eggs and cheese, I'm no chef) and it was YUMMY! We will be writing HOW TO essays, how to paint your finger nails, and how to build with Legos, always a great way to do writing. So there will be plenty of pics and writing this week.
We are learning about Volcanoes this week so there will be some messy days creating a volcano and erupting it!!! HOW COOL IS THAT?!? (Yes, I am crazy and will be using paper mache and a mixture of baking soda and vinegar to make LAVA.)
**On another note- our kiddos have been a little out of sorts lately. They are not remembering their manners when others are speaking, listening, and are blurting out whatever they want at a most inopportune time. Please remind them that having manners in school is imperative, or they will have to meet the classroom consequences by flipping their behavior cards. This may mean phone calls home and removal from all extra (fun) activities planned.**
We have jump rope for heart on Friday, and 100th day activities this week too. WOW we are busy!!!
Check back for the link to book reports, hopefully they are all done and ready to start, I will be showing the proper procedure this week during Guided Reading.
Hello All!!!
Happy Super Bowl Sunday! Hope everyone eats lots of treats and gets to see some cool commercials today.

The "Art" part will consist of; -A poster of your planet with facts from your report -A model of your planet-styrofoam, paper mache, or whatever you like -A brochure made on the computer or by hand-that invites people to come to your planet for vacation. (like a travel brochure)
The Projects are DUE January 25th!!!!

If you want to check it out take a look; http://snowflakebentley.com/
All things Snowflake Man...

Hello Everyone and Happy New Year!
I hope you all had a great and relaxing winter break, I relaxed and did some fun stuff with my kiddos at home. We went ice skating, swimming, and visited with my family. It was a great time, we actually had Mr. Benson home with us too so we had quality family time :)
I know you all are back to the GRIND, as am I, but remember we are now pushing to get ready for the NJASK 3. We need to work extra hard and read, read, read! The reading portion on the NJASK is very long, so the more we practice the easier the test will be.
ALSO, we are having a Topic 4 Test Tomorrow, we have been practicing in class (it is drawing, and simple mulitplication) Please make sure you have flash cards so your kiddo can memorize their facts.
IT IS SOOOOOO IMPORTANT TO MEMORIZE THE FACTS.
I am going to post some more test preparation items in the near future for your kiddos to practice at home and during class centers.
What did you do over Christmas break? Do you have any New Year Resolutions?
Let me know for a coupon for your KIDDO in Class :)
As always, thanks for being you, and supporting everything I do...

We have a lot to be thankful for this year, our children, our jobs, our families, and every blessing that has come our way. I am blessed and thankful for my class, and all the support their families give me everyday. I am thankful for my family-Zach, Emily, Sam, and Sara, as well as my parents, grandparents, in-laws, and my Sister, Brother in law, and Nephews. I am also thankful for my best friends Mrs. Sinone and Erin McCusker. Without all these people in my life I would not be the woman I am today.
Please take some time and talk with your kiddos about what they are thankful for. I look forward to seeing all of you at conferences, teaching your kiddos about the origins of Thanksgiving-I have some awesome stuff ready-and doing some fun stuff (as always)
If you would like to come in and read or hang out with us, take some photos, run a center, let me know in an email- mrsbensonsbunch@gmail.com- I would love to see you and so would your KIDDO!
With much gratitude and thanks,

Hi everyone! Pics of the kiddos coming soon as well as videos.
I wanted to tell you today we celebrated Veterans Day by reading about the origins of the holiday, making cards for Master Chief Young (my Grandpop) and doing some comprehension activities. While we were reading I noticed quite a few readers struggling with third grade words. So, being the teacher type(hahaha) I decided to involve you in some reading this week. The books I assigned are HARDER than usual, I would like for you to read to the kiddos, then help them read or read at the same time. Most words should be read with ease, others may need to be tapped out(like foundations in K-2)
Math today was great! They really are getting place value and regrouping :) love it when Math goes well!!!!
So- we also need Volunteers for the Scholastic Book Fair, and donations of food for the Thanksgiving Day Feast on Thursday.
Our Holiday Projects are due Nov 19th please hand it in on time to present to the class, goodies are welcome!!!
Let me know if you can come in to read.
I am totally looking forward to seeing you all at Conferences :)
WOW that was a lot of info!!! Email me if you need anything and to come in to help or read with us.
As always Thank you for your support and kindness, and can you believe it's almost Thanksgiving!!!!

World Run day is coming up-I sent home the paper today. Donations appreciated and those who bring in donations can run in the event.
