Working HARD!

Today at Bacon School all our BSI and RR programs were up and running. There are a few kinks but so far so good in Mrs.Benson's Bunch!  We practiced Math in the class and some went out for Math and Reading. We are Rockin' and Rollin' :)
This week in writing we are Persuading our classmates (or anyone who will listen) to believe that one of our Science Mag Predators are the Deadliest on EARTH! The Great White Shark, the Praying Mantis, or The Crocodile! We are reading National Geographic Kids Magazine Explorer;
http://magma.nationalgeographic.com/ngexplorer/pioneer/index.html
Check it out here...
Our writing piece will be published and stored on our flash drives and then printed out, eventually, and we will create a project to go along. (A great white's jaws, a crocodiles death roll, or the chomping of the praying mantis)

FRIDAY- PLEASE WEAR CLOTHES THAT CAN GET TOTALLY MESSED UP.
Also, bring in 5 leaves from your yard.  Preferably different shapes.  We are going to do leaf printing because we will be reading about plants and photosynthesis later this week, Thursday.

MATH TEST!!! WE HAVE A MATH TEST ON TOPIC 1 FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The kids can review on their Pearson Success Net account, they have their user names and passwords and will bring them home. I had to change them... UGH but all fixed :)

I will post some more pics and videos soon. Hope you all are having a great week.

Busy, Busy, Busy

What a great week we had! I hope you enjoyed all the videos and photos from the weeks activities in science.

This week coming is going to be filled with more fun and our very first Math test on Topic 1. We will finish up the lessons on Wednesday and review Thursday with, also, our very first completion of a math test on the computer.
We are going to end our Moon unit with a Shadow experiment to see if the changes in the earth's position during the day. Then we will read our National Geographic Kids Magazine and develop opinion writing pieces to see who believes which predator is the fiercest! So Cool!

I will post pics of the last experiment and let you know when we start the solar system, probably the following week, because we will be studying the planets, having a test on the planets, and Creating the SOLAR SYSTEM IN OUR CLASSROOM!!! (we are going to have to dress very messy because we are going to get very messy, complete with glow in the dark paint!)

We are also going to be doing some studies with leaves, soon, and start discussing the upcoming Presidential Election!!! There will be an actual classroom election too.
Please email me or call school if you would like to come in and read with your student or to the class.
Also, if your child is starving before lunch, please pack them a snack-crackers, fruit snacks, a cheese stick, something that will help out their bellies and not make them too hyper :)

Have a great week!

The Moon's Surface Experiment was fantastic. We tested hypotheses, took notes, created drawings, and found theories to explain what the surface of the moon looks like and why it looks that way.

Twas the night before Third Grade...

Here's a little poem I hope you enjoy! See you all tomorrow :)

‘Twas the Night Before School Started
Author Unknown

‘Twas the night before school started,
When all through the town,
The parents were cheering.
It was a riotous sound!
By eight, the kids were washed
And tucked into bed…
When memories of homework
Filled them with dread.
New pencils, new folders, new notebooks too!
New teachers, new friends…
Their anxiety grew!
The parents just giggled when
They learned of this fright
And shouted upstairs-
“Go to bed! It’s a school night!”
